Shannon (was originally named Abel, then Hugo).
Born sometime in 2010
He came to live with me on 22nd September 2011
I'm his 6th (and last) owner!
Vowing not to take on another dog, this dog's photos begged me to bring him home.

Shannon was a private rehoming from the website bordercolliesneedinghomes.
He had been adopted from the City Dog Home/Pound by his previous owner, who, after having him for 5 months, admitted she couldn't cope with his hyper activity levels and some of the bad behavioural traits he had acquired.
After a few sleepless nights and emails and phone calls back and forth to his owner, I finally decided he would come and live with me!!!
He is the only boy among all my girls!!
Yet another "no more dogs" resolution has been broken!!
He's about 18 months old and I'm his 5 - 6th owner, but he isn't going anywhere, he's staying with me.
He is a gentle, affectionate, clever, intelligent dog, though you wouldn't have thought so by the way he "welcomed" me when we first met. All teeth and hackles raised, he wanted to eat me!!!!
I've not had him long and have already taught him to do flyball, and hopefully he will be competing this springtime.
He gets on brilliantly with my 4 other collies and the cantankerous old Jack Russell I adopted a couple of years ago.
He adores swimming in the sea and any other large area of water!!! Ball mad and very obedient.
When he starts competing in flyball, I'll put some new photos here.

I am teaching Shannon Flyball, and as you can see from these two videos of his first training, he's doing quite well.

He's lovely, Valerie. Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. What a wonderful addition to your family.

Thank you for adding Shannon he is such a stunning looking boy and what a super photo of him!
And wow, watching those videos he is going to be sooooo fast, if that was early training, he should be a super star flyballer in no time! You have done a fab job with him Valerie
Am looking forward to any future updates on him.
Best of luck in the flyball :)

Hi,
I too have competed in Flyball at International level and competing in the World Championships in Arizona US 2 years running, but I am back in the UK now and although none of my currents dogs compete I have just Adopted Misty from MTAR in Wales, I only had her 4 days, but she seems lovely, I have yet to see her run at full speed as she has no recall yet (she came from a puppy farm as a breeding bitch in Ireland) and does not yet know much about a ball, I am hoping she may have a shot at Flyball in the future, she is only 2 years old and no physical problems that my vet has found apart from desperately needing to put on a bit of weight. I wish you luck in your future Flyball with your rescue Shannon, he sure is beautiful...you are very lucky, as is he, to have found a home like yours.
Kathy.

Wow he looks stunning :) and its great that he loves the ball and likes to do flyball. You sound as though you have done a lovely job with him :)

Flyball is such an amazing sport for dogs to take part in. My two have their own individual issues and I strongly beleive that taking them to training has helped them both with their confidence.

Cannot wait for it all to begin again in Spring :)

I race with the Sheffield flyball teams with two of my other dogs, Kate and Billie. Hopefully Shannon will be competing in Starters at Gap Farm, Drax, or at the latest Carlton Towers.
One of my own breeding competed in the States with the Hairier Jump Jets. He was owned by Bev Tirardo (previously Vautrinot). H
He was a tri blue merle and his name was D'L (Bessamour D'Ltan Azure). He also had his herding titles. He was used at stud many times and his kids are doing wonders in flyball, herding, agility, Disc Dog, S&R and whatever other dog sports they compete in.
I kept his litter brother Digger, also a tri blue merle, who sadly went to Rainbow Bridge last year, just a few weeks after D'L. I guess they are doing flyball over there.

I've uploaded photos of them below:

He is very like Digger, even from the side/back photo. Which team are you running with there (as I can see the photo is taken at a Molten Magnets flyball tournament:-)
